Kassel School of Medicine: Study in Kassel

The city of Kassel became word famous because of the most important exhibition of contemporary art the “documenta” which takes place in Kassel every five years. The statue of Herkules in the biggest European Bergpark can be seen from far away above the city. It became part of the Unesco word culture heritage in 2013. The upper centre of the region Nordhessen which has about 200.000 residents also offers many study and shopping possibilities and also high qualities leisure activities. The cityscape is characterized by a lively pedestrian area and many parks. All important places can easily be reached because of the excellent Train- and Tram connections and its central location in Germany and Europe. Further information can be found at Kassel’s website.

During the clinical years of the BM(EU) programme (years 3-5) students will be mainly based at Klinikum Kassel. However placements will also take place at small district hospitals, community facilities and GP practices. In year 5 you will also do a 6 week placement in Southampton.

Due to the low number of students each year individual needs can be met and the program also offers a close relationship between students and patients and also between students and teachers.

The cooperation between the Kassel School of medicine and the University of Kassel also offers many research possibilities in the fields of biomedicine, biotechnology, psychology and social science in addition to human medicine. Further, students of the Kassel School of Medicine can use the library, the psycho social counseling center of the student service, go to the university sports and go eat at the Mensa for reduced prices.
