Study in Kassel

The city of Kassel became word famous because of the most important exhibition of contemporary art the “documenta” which takes place in Kassel every five years. The statue of Herkules in the biggest European Bergpark can be seen from far away above the city. It became part of the Unesco word culture heritage in 2013. The upper centre of the region Nordhessen that has about 200.000 residents also offers many study and shopping possibilities and high qualities leisure activities. A lively pedestrian area and many parks characterize the cityscape. All important places can easily be reached because of the excellent Train- and Tram connections and its central location in Germany and Europe. Further information can be found at Kassel’s website.

The study at the Kassel School of Medicine primarily takes place at the Klinikum Kassel as well as at the Kreiskliniken of the GNH and cooperating external hospital associations during study years 3 to 5. The Klinikum Kassel, as a Hospital of maximum care, is responsible for the treatment of patients from the complete region of Northern Hessen and more. The 31 clinics and institutions of the Klinikum Kassel treat over 55,000 inpatients and more than 175,000 outpatients very year. The highly specialised performance spectrum of all medical disciplines makes high quality multidisciplinary and holistic diagnoses and therapy concepts possible.

Due to the low number of students, each year individual needs can be met and the programme offers a close relationship between students and patients and between students and teachers.

The cooperation between the Kassel School of medicine and the University of Kassel also offers research possibilities in the fields of biomedicine, psychology and social science. Further, students of the Kassel School of Medicine can use the library, the psychosocial counselling Student Service Center, go to the university sports and go eat at the Mensa for reduced prices.
